BIO
Loud in the Pines is an Edmonton-based indie-folk music duo whose lyrical songs and seamless harmonies will transport you from the wide open prairies to the forests and cliffs they dream about. Audiences are captivated by their warm, heartfelt presence and leave feeling strengthened and restored.
Spencer Taubner (vocals, guitar) and Kelin (kay-lin) Flanagan (vocals, keys, banjo) have played music together since 2006, when they met playing Irish trad music. Loud in the Pines officially began in 2023 with the release of their first EP, self-recorded bitter bright.
In 2025, Loud in the Pines released their first full-length record, the Canadian Folk Music Award-nominated Every Colour Left, with the support of the Edmonton Arts Council. Produced by JUNO-winner and multi-nominee Ben Plotnick, the record tells stories of their lives in their hundred-year-old house in the neighbourhood of Garneau in Edmonton. This album won Producer of the Year (Ben Plotnick) at the Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2026.
